Shall we oscillate?
To oscillate means to move back and forth in a regular pattern, to sway or swing like a pendulum.
To vacillate, by contrast, means to move back and forth in an irregular pattern.
Some days I notice that movement and breathing feel regular, steady -- like an oscillation. And other days vacillation is the better descriptor. Both are normal qualities of movement and feeling.
Sometimes I want the steadiness, sometimes I want the unexpected. Sometimes I turn to movement to inspire the uncertain, and other times to find steady ground and calm an uneven mood.
Perhaps take note of which you need today and bring that intent into your practice. Enjoy!
