The Welcome Class is an offering to welcome newcomers to the mov/ed community—folks coming together online for a shared movement practice.
To join, I ask you to schedule a time to meet with me before attending a regular weekly class time. It'll be a chance to share any objectives you have in joining class and ask any questions you have for me.
When you come to class, I'll take a moment at the beginning to introduce you to the rest of the folks attending and welcome you into the community!
Weekly classes start at 8am on Sun and Wed mornings.
Please schedule a pre-class meet-and-greet appointment to get started!
In addition to the Welcome Class and my ongoing drop-in classes, I occasionally offer the Welcome Series, a five-week introduction to building a movement habit founded in awareness (of your needs, your body, and more).
Each week will focus on a different aspect of movement through discussion and practice: breathing, mobility, balance, awareness, and choice. All together, the series is designed to give you a foundation for building or refining a regular movement practice or exercise habit, whether on your own or in group classes.
The Welcome Series is offered online via Zoom annually, either at the start of the school year or at the start of the calendar year. Attendance is limited to 8 people. Fee is pay what you choose, with a suggested range of $50-150.
If you have any questions, feel free to email me or schedule a free introductory meeting.
Amazing! Use the registration form below to let me know of your interest. You'll be invited to sign up for my mailing list to get notified when the next Welcome Series is open for registration.
The Welcome Series is an introduction to building a movement habit founded in awareness. "Habit founded in awareness" might seem like an oxymoron, which is probably why many traditions refer to this habit as a practice: movement you do for your well-being (whether physical, mental, or all of it) in an intentional manner and on a regular basis. The regularity and commitment is the habit part. What you do inside that time can be filled with awareness --whether it's of how you do your movement or how you feel in it or another focus.
The Welcome Series is meant to introduce you to a few concrete topics (and accompanying actions) that can help you engage with your movement practice/habit/routine with intention. And if you're just starting to build a habit, I hope these tools will make it easier to do just that.
The principles that we'll cover together are also foundational to the way I teach my weekly classes. This series provides a good introduction to my style of teaching movement and gentle yoga.
There are so many reasons! Here are just three:
